Village for Me | Melbourne Doula

As your doula I will help you to navigate the transformative period that is pregnancy, birth and postpartum, however that looks for you.

I'm here to ensure you feel informed, held and heard in this vulnerable and exciting time, confident in your innate ability to birth and to tackle the challenges that life as a newborn family presents.

Because you were never meant to do this alone

Hello, I’m Alice — a doula, student midwife, complete and utter birth nerd, and mum of two based in the inner west of Melbourne.

I am deeply passionate about providing new parents with physical, emotional and informational support as they navigate the transformative period that is pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

From birthing my first child while working as a lawyer in a private hospital with an OB, to using private midwifery and fertility services to hold me through two miscarriages, and then onto a beautiful homebirth for my second son, I’ve experienced the both ends of the spectrum of pregnancy care. I’m passionate about your birth choices. About you knowing them, and making autonomous decisions with them in mind.

I bring a wealth of knowledge and lived experience to my support of new parents — having come to the world of birth and postpartum from a career in family law, and experiencing my sense of purpose utterly transformed by motherhood. Matrescence brought me to the world of postpartum, and then onto the world of pregnancy and birth, which I now live and breathe.

A firm believer that it takes a village, I hope to deliver to my clients that feeling of weightlessness and warmth that comes when someone who ‘gets it’ walks in the door and is there to help. I hope my practice as a doula can help new parents to avoid the isolation, stress, and feelings of self-doubt that new parents are left to face if the village support doesn’t arrive.

I believe that the care and support for new parents shouldn’t end at the door of the hospital or their midwife’s clinic, and that postnatal care shouldn’t be limited to that which a maternal child healthcare nurse can offer. New parents deserve to be listened to, understood, fed and empowered with evidence-based information and support so that they can thrive through pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester, rather than just scrape through.

I provide in-person and virtual doula support — from pregnancy, birth and postpartum planning in pregnancy to care after birth. My postpartum care is generous, flexible, and designed to hold space for whatever my clients need on the day.

Listen to my journey into parenthood and experience of matrescence.

“Alice arrived with bundles of healthy, filling and delicious food. She swooped in …. giving me a much needed break. I then realised just how much I needed it. We chatted and debriefed on my birth and my challenges of that moment — support and comfort I had desperately craved.

Alice just got it, she understood it all without much even needing to be said — a kind, supportive and deeply understanding ear.”

Alice helped us set a solid foundation as a new family unit and helped give me the confidence to be the mum I want to be. She gave me the space to rest, recover, heal and feel all the feels which made me feel seen, heard and understood - which is priceless as a new mum.

Alice's cooking is so wholesome and delicious, we still talk about it! I'll never forget the lightness I felt in the house and myself after she'd left.

Don't think twice about it, invest in yourself and your family and book a time to meet with Alice, you deserve it and you won't regret it, she's amazing.
